Alocasia cucullata | Chinese Taro

 

Family: Araceae (Aroids)

 

Often called Buddha’s Hand this Alocasia is known to bring good luck and fortune. It is commonly cultivated at Buddhist temples in Asia.  One of the easiest Alocasia to grow as a house plant and is also quite cold hardy and able to tolerate mild frosts so can be grown outside.

 

 

12cm pot.

Leaves can grow to 30cm, plant 1m.
Allow top of soil to dry a little between watering. Prefers a little humidity.
Water well in growing season, allow top of soil to dry a little between watering.
Well draining, rich in organic matter. Addition of bark chip / perlite recommended.
