Asparagus ferns are not technically ferns but rather members of the asparagus family with fern like foliage. Asparagus setaceus has fine, feathery foliage and is native to South and East Africa. Easy to grow as a house plant or can be grown to mimic trees in a terrarium where it can be pruned to maintain desired height.

Can eventually grow to in excess of 2m.
Water well in warmer months, allowing top of soil to dry between watering. Appreciates reasonable humidty.
Low-medium light levels.
Prefers a soil that is moist and relatively free draining.
