Begonia amphioxus

Family: Begoniaceae

Begonia amphioxus is a small cane Begonia endemic to Sabah in Borneo where it grows at the bottom of limestone cliffs and on low rocky outcrops under the tree canopy. While it can grow to around 75cm tall it can easily be pruned to maintain desired height. The leaves grow only 6-12cm making it a useful and eyecatching Begonia for the terrarium.

Begonia amphioxus is more commonly grown as a terrarium plant however these plants have been acclimated to conditions with less humidty and should thrive as a house plant as long as an increase in humidity is still provided.

These Begonia amphioxus plants are fully rooted and can be potted on if you like. We recommend to use a potting mix with plenty of perlite and if possible a little lime will be beneficial to the growth.

6cm pot.
