Philodendron hederaceum var. hederaceum f. micans syn. Philodendron scandens f. micans
Family: Araceae (Aroids)
This velvet leaved Philodendron is often called Black-Gold Philodendron and is native to Central – South America. It has gorgeous heart shaped leaves that are generally quite dark in colour with tones of black and copper and pinks and reds in the new growth. Easy to care for and fast growing this is a very popular and highly sought after Philodendron that is also incredibly rewarding to grow. It makes a wonderful trailing plant and looks great cascading off a shelf.
The perfect Philodendron for planting in a terrarium / vivarium set up as the leaves stay quite small and it looks fantastic climbing up the backdrop.
Can grow upwards of 4m in the right conditions. Leaves up to 8cm, will grow bigger when allowed to climb.
Water moderately, allowing the top of the soil to dry out between watering. Grows best with increased humidity but isn’t too fussy.
Bright, indirect light. Good for lower light levels.
Prefers a soil that is quite free draining. We recommend our Aroid Potting Mix.
